For incoming first-year students

The fall 2024 application process for all Living-Learning Programs is closed. Applications for returning students are estimated to open in early January 2025.

How to Apply

Applications for Living-Learning Programs can be completed once an incoming student has accepted their offer of admission from Virginia Tech and paid the matriculation fee. At that time, a housing contract will be made available to eligible students. A component of the application is expressing interest and applying to Living-Learning Programs. Students may apply for up to three LLPs as part of the housing contract application in the StarRez Application Portal.

Application Review Cycles

Applications will be reviewed approximately every two weeks. If you have not heard within two weeks of submitting your application, you are welcome to reach out to livinglearning@vt.edu. The Office of Living-Learning Programs will then inquire on your behalf about your applications status.

Offers may expire, so pay close attention to the dates provided in the offer email.

Please note, students will not be able to apply to Living-Learning Programs after Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. to allow time for room selection before the start of the fall term.

For transfer students

The Fall 2024 application for the Transfer Experience LLC is now closed. Transfer students still seeking Fall 2024 housing are recommended to look into off-campus housing options.

Due to limited on-campus spots for transfer students, any transfer students seeking to live on campus must follow these steps:

  • Apply to the Transfer Experience LLC.
  • Applications can be completed once an incoming transfer student has accepted their offer of admission from Virginia Tech and paid the matriculation fee. Please allow 3 business days for this to process. After this time, the application can be found in the StarRez Portal.
  • If accepted, you will receive a housing contract to live in the Transfer Experience LLC’s designated location (Newman Hall).
  • Transfer students are also welcome to place their name on the housing waitlist, which can also be found in StarRez.
  • If you are not taken off the waitlist and not accepted to Transfer Experience, you will have to seek off-campus arrangements.
