Make an Impact.
The Impact Living Learning Community (LLC) offers students from any major or any year a chance to expand their knowledge of data analytics in a collaborative environment.
Members live together in the same residential hall, engaging in both academic and social events. Through a one-credit foundational course (taken your first semester in Impact) introducing foundational concepts on data analytics and networking opportunities throughout the year with Virginia Tech alumni, professors, and industry professionals, students will tackle data challenges and build valuable connections and knowledge while living in Impact. We welcome students who want to expand their data analytics skills and knowledge, network with data analytics faculty and professionals, work in multidisciplinary teams to solve problems using data, engage in community events, and learn leadership skills. Students will emerge as effective leaders who can make an impact through data-informed decisions.
IMPACT is currently located in Cochrane Hall.
This community is for students of any major, academic college, or academic year who have an expressed interest in data analytics as a career pathway or interest. We welcome students who want to sharpen their data analytics skills, network with analytics faculty and professionals, work in multidisciplinary teams to solve problems using data, and learn leadership skills.
Living in Impact, you will be exposed to cutting-edge data analytics tools and techniques, and you will work with students who have similar interests across many different majors. As a first-year student, you will enroll in a one-credit required course designed to introduce foundational concepts and to build community. Fireside chats and other special events will provide regular interaction with leading data analytics professionals. You will also engage and collaborate with community partners, as well as faculty members from the Pamplin College of Business and the College of Science. You will emerge as an effective leader who can make an impact through data-informed decisions.
Students in Impact will pay a $50 per semester fee to live in the program.
If you are a new student coming to Virginia Tech, you can apply for Impact once you have accepted your offer of admission from Virginia Tech and paid the matriculation fee. If you are a current or returning student, you can apply in the StarRez Portal beginning in October. Learn more about the application process.
