Sydney Baxter

Program Coordinator, Leadership and Social Change Residential College

Sydney Baxter serves as the Program Coordinator for the Leadership and Social Change Residential College (LSCRC) at Virginia Tech. In this role, she provides direct support to the daily functions of the LSCRC through program development, advising students leaders, connecting with community and campus partners, and providing leadership for the community in collaboration with the Faculty Principal.

Sydney received her Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech, and her M. Ed from Clemson University. Prior to this role, Sydney served as the Graduate Assistant for Community Leader Development in the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement at Clemson University.

Sydney enjoys working with living-learning programs because of the sense of community that is developed within a residential space. Living-learning programs create a space for students of all disciplines to come together with a common purpose or interest, allowing for the development of the whole student. Sydney’s favorite Aspiration for Student Learning is Pursue Self-Understanding and Integrity. Sydney shared, “When a student is able to explore the leader they are becoming we see a shift from the exploration of ‘who am I?’ to the confidence of ‘who I am.’ We are on a never-ending journey of discovering ourselves and I feel fortunate to be a small part of that journey for the students in our communities.”
